A força vem Dele. A unção vem Dele.

Hanging with the devil.
Every week I receive e-mails from people wanting my opinion on secular music. “Can I listen to secular music?” “Does it matter to God?” “Is it a sin to listen to secular music?”
To respond to these three questions quickly, 1. Yes, you can listen to secular music. You can also throw yourself in front of an on-coming truck or go to hell if you so wish to. (There is more to life than “can or can’t”). 2. Yes, it does matter to God. 3. No, it is not a sin to listen to secular music. It also is not a sin to cross the street with your eyes closed. It just isn’t very smart.
I would first like to express my absolute distaste for “can I, can’t I” questions. I am not particularly fond of responding with “can or can’t” because of the possibility of creating an appearance of rules and running the risk of becoming or being labeled as religious. I find the attitude of wanting to create rules for everything, shallow and immature. There are plenty of things in the Christian life that cannot be simply put into a “can or can’t” box. There are things that you can do that are not particularly good for your Christian walk or do absolutely nothing for it, but at the same time, cannot be emphatically called sin.
For me, music is one of those things. Listening to secular music, in and of itself, will not send anyone to hell. But, it will also not cause anyone to have a more intimate relationship with Jesus. On the contrary, it could cause your spiritual life to become cold and distant. The question that I always have is this, “Why do the children of God want to listen to something that does not edify them or glorify God when we have christian music that does both of those things?”
"Or what fellowship is there between light and darkness?" (2Co 6:14)
I have read shallow articles written by even shallower people that have said that in order to improve their musical talent, given to them by God, they need to listen to secular music. Right. God gave you the talent, but the devil is going to help you improve it. That makes a lot of sense. About as much sense as a young girl watching a strip tease so she can pick up some new moves for her choreography team at church.
"Or what fellowship is there between light and darkness?" (2Co 6:14)
I even read an article by one guy who said that he doesn’t know of one pastor that doesn’t listen to secular music. OK. I know of at least one.
I realize that music was created be God and not the devil. But, that is not a good excuse to listen to secular music. My friend, sex was also created by God and not the devil. But, that does not justify me going out and renting a pornographic film. Understand? Obviously God created music and the devil has perverted some of it. So, for this reason, I will look for music in the form in which God created it and not the perversion. There is a huge difference.
If you fill your head with the lyrics from secular tunes, tell me that it will not have na effect on you. Sure it will. If you fill a cup full with orange juice, full of orange juice it will be. If you fill your mind with garbage from the world, full of garbage it will be. And this will have an effect on your relationship with Jesus.
There is a story of a little boy that every day, after school, went to one of his classmates home to play. After about a month, his mother asked him,
“How is your friend?”
“What friend?”
“Your friend that you play with every day.”
“Oh, him. He’s not my friend.”
“But, you play with him everyday. How are you going to tell me that he is not your friend?”
“No. He’s not my friend. I just like his toys.”
“Let me try and understand this. You go to his house everyday to play with his toys, but you don’t like him?”
“Yeah, that’s right. But, you know, the more I’m with him, the more I’m starting to like him.”
And that is the risk in hanging out with the devil. Many of us spend a good amount of our time playing with the devil’s toys, yet we don’t consider him our friend. Do you think? Is it possible that we are starting to learn to tolerate him because we like his toys? I don’t know about you, but I don’t hang out with my enemies.
In order to know what a man’s priorities are, look to see where he spends his money. To know who a man’s friends are, look to see who he spends his time with.
"You adulterers! Don't you realize that friendship with this world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again, that if your aim is to enjoy this world, you can't be a friend of God. (James 4:4)
Reality is this: God is raising up a strong, anointed, and separate (set apart) generation. The strength comes from God. The anointing comes from God. But you have to decide to be separate from the world. You have to decide how far you want to go with Him. I can’t tell you that listening to secular music will destroy your spiritual life, but I can guarantee you that it will not help in the least bit.
"Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is." (Ro 12:2)
"Don't team up with those who are unbelievers. How can goodness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness?” (2Co 6:14)
Make a decision to hang out with purity and perfection, not with perversion.
Choose to be a holy and separate from the world.
Be radical in order to see radical things happen in and through your life.
Hang out with God, not the devil.
