Hope
What is hope?
Do you have hope?
What do you hope for?
Hope: A wish or desire accompanied by confident expectation of its fulfillment.
Most people limit their hope to this world; their marriage, their family, their job, their possessions, their health.
It’s all about here.
And that’s what the church offers people today.
But what do you say to someone who has nothing and no way of ever attaining something?
What do you offer them?
What hope do you give them?
Tour Guide in Ireland - St. Patrick – poor people with no hope – He gave them the hope that there is something better after this life.
There is an eternity. Independent of how your life goes, there is something better to come, or not.
What is your hope?
What do you hope for in eternity?
Why do you hope for it?
Are you sure of it?
The tour guide had hope and she spoke of it with passion.
Some of us have so much hope that we say nothing. We have the words of eternal life. We have the hope of glory, yet we stay quiet.
1 Peter 3.14-16; But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. "Do not fear what they fear; do not be frightened." But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.
Ephesians 1.17-19; I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.
Jesus is the hope of the world and not only in this life, but the one to come.
